As the title implies, this form of sedation is taken orally, normally in tablet form, and drank with a glass of water. Oral sedation can make patients feel drowsy and take away anxiety. However, you will still be semi-awake and able to answer questions, go to the bathroom, etc.

However, in some instances, patients may become groggy and fall asleep, which makes your time in the chair pass quickly.

How Does it Work?

Unlike intravenous general anesthesia where you’re asleep and unable to feel pain, conscious sedation’s main focus is to calm you. Dr Gomez will still use a local anesthetic to numb the area being treated during your procedure.

What to Expect During Oral Sedation

You might feel mildly to moderately sedated, depending on the dose. Oral sedation will not knock you out, but you might doze lightly in the dental chair. You will know what is happening and be able to communicate with your dentist and staff, but may not remember much about the procedure afterwards. Most people are happy to know this!

sedation dentistry

Sedation dentistry with a modern and comfortable environment helps our patients relax and feel at ease.

How long does dental oral sedation last?

Essentially, oral sedation will suppress the gag reflex, suppress pain responses, reduce anxiety, and more. Therefore, these dental sedation methods usually last anywhere from two to four hours after the procedure. Going to home to rest and sleep after your procedure is recommended.

Technology & Sedation

Using our 3D x-rays combined with our ultra-modern CEREC 3D CAD CAM system, we achieve extremely precise restorations. Also, thanks to this technology, dental procedures are less invasive, more conservative and discomfort levels are greatly reduced.

Compared to traditional dentistry and other clinics which do not invest in technology, you are assured of the most comfortable, pain free dental experience possible.
